THE CABINS
We have 6 cabins that can accommodate 24 people
The cabins are original Maine Camps from the 1930's-- the heyday of sporting camps and fishing lodges. They are situated on the eastern shore of Damariscotta Lake, secluded from tourist traps. They blend well among the setting of old pines and white birches. We can accommodate up to 24 people in 6 cabins.
The original structures have been converted into housekeeping cottages with present-day amenities while retaining their rustic charm. They have fully equipped kitchens, living/dining areas with wood-burning stoves, up to three bedrooms and full baths with claw-footed bathtubs and a large outdoor shower. Large screened-in porches with picnic tables and lounging chairs overlook the Great Bay of the16-mile long lake and the western horizon with its spectacular sunsets over wooded hills.
Amenities:
The cabins are fully furnished and kitchens are well equipped. You bring your own towels and linen, extra blankets (one blanket and pillow per bed is provided) radio, games, books, water toys, fishing rods, flashlight, cameras, and binoculars. Bed linens are available for rental at $5.00 per set and towels are also available at $5.00 per person. Our boats are free of charge - to be shared by all guests during your stay.
Studio Cabin ~The Treehouse
This cabin is tucked away behind our vegetable and flower garden and sits among the trees of the forest. It has one large room with 2 twin beds, a kitchen corner, a large closet and a bathroom, as well as a porch. It is perfect for 2 people who do not need a double bed. Our guests who prefer this cabin are sometimes friends, siblings, parent and child, but it is also much loved as a hide-away for couples.
1 Bedroom Cabin
This cabin has been nicknamed "The Honeymoon cabin" because it is set behind the front cabins, surrounded by trees and more private than the lake front cabins.
It boasts a cozy kitchen and a large bedroom with queen size bed, as well as a large porch with a picnic table, chair and day bed which can be used by a third guest, if needed.
Cabin was perfect for a rustic Maine getaway! Everything was provided and felt as if we were immersed in the Maine wilderness & surrounded by its untouched beauty. Very well kept & we felt as though we've always known our wonderful hostess, Aloisa! Wish we had more time to enjoy this beautiful gem, but will be back soon!.. Lisa Bowman Oct 2016
2 Bedroom Cabins
Our two 2-bedroom cabins feature one double bed and 2 twin beds, one bath, a separate kitchen and living room with wood burning stove. The large porch boasts a picnic table, sofa and chairs. Between the cabins and lake are fire pits for camp fires and roasting marshmallows. The large charcoal grill is shared by all guests, so are all our boats and our large hot- and cold water outdoor shower.
We stayed September 4th and 5th and fell in love with Sunset Cabins. Be aware that it is a classic camp style set up. The cabins are cozy but not modernized which is what we loved about it. The price is unbeatable. Location is perfect if you're looking for a quiet retreat. We used it as base camp for excursions to more popular tourist areas. Lake Damariscotta is beautiful and quiet...
